So your battery/charging light has come on and after checking you found that the alternator has gone bad. Well being that the engine is a 3.7 liter, the replacement will be fairly cut and dry. The first step is to make sure the battery is disconnected so that you dont damage any electrical components by accidently shorting the battery cables out. Once we have taken care of the safety aspect....we need to move over to removing the serpentine belt. First step in the belt removal on any vehicle is to make sure you have a belt diagram so that you have no issues when reinstalling the belt. The time to make a diagram is before removal of the old belt. If you forget to do this on this engine then have no fear....I have your back. Included in the video is a 3.7 belt diagram to help you out. The alternator is attached to the engine with 3 bolts. there are 2x15mm bolts and 1x13mm bolt. The battery cable is attached with a 13mm nut and the final connection is a 2 wire connector on the rear. Once you remove the 3 bolts, the cable nut and the connector.....you can then grab a pry bar and start to remove the alternator from its mount. The alternator will be tight on the mount so the pry bar aids in moving it up and off the mount. Once the alternator is off, the reinstallation of the new alternator may now begin. The installation is the opposite of removal. Once done, make sure to varify that the system is charging with multimeter or other test equipment.
