Obituary
Mrs Nwabisa Sinovuyo Xayiya, the eldest daughter of Zwelixolile and Zizikazi Mzuzu was born on the 25th October 1981 at St Mary’s Hospital in Umtata. She went to school at Fairfield Junior Secondary School, Zimbani Primary, Maria Louw Junior Secondary School and Queenstown Girls High. She matriculated at Collegiate High School in Port Elizabeth. She furthered her studies at Wits University and Unisa. On the eve of completing her studies she decided to pursue her passion in Fashion and Art collection as business enterprises.
In 2010 Nwabisa married the love her life, Mikki and they were blessed with two beautiful children Naluthandolwethu born 14 February 2012 and Olu’luthandolwethu born 17 September 2013. She devoted her life to their babies and her family. She was a warm and sensitive soul who treated all with due consideration, displaying at all times a generosity of spirit matched by an enduring sense of humour, genuine love, especially for the less privileged, a gracious host who opened both her big heart and home to all that she embraced.
She loved style and the grace of good taste and took time to discover, embrace and promote new up and coming fashion designers and artists. She was particularly devoted to agitating for the acceptance and respect of the LGBTQ+ community counting some as her closest friends. In October 2020, she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer called “small cell lung cancer” which soon metastasized into full blown stage 4 cancer.
Despite her fierce fight and the best medical treatment, she received at Sandton Oncology Centre, she peacefully passed-away on 26th May 2021. She leaves behind her mother, 2 sisters, her children Nalu, Olu and her beloved husband Mikki.
Lala ngoxolo Mbathane! Nonzaba! Matshaya! Ngumkhuma! Uxesibe! Ukhanda nyawana!
