The Aorere River in Golden Bay on top of the South Island in New Zealand is a really nice river with a good population of brown trout.
Due to it's remoteness it hasn't got as much fishing pressure as other rivers on the South Island. River access can be a little difficult. Once at the river, it can easily be waded in the middle and upper reaches.
I got this nice brown trout on a black and gold Veltic spinner.
As usual the trout were very active during the major fishing times.
We spotted quite a few trout feeding in different parts of the river.
