This video is a render engine comparison test video covering Blender render engines Eevee, Cycles, Radeon ProRender and LuxCore. The device used was the PNY RTX3090 XLR8 covered in the video linked below.
CHARACTER: This character is the result of a Udemy course by GameDev.tv called "Blender Character Creator v2.0 for Games Design". The final textures are 2K and 4K painted PBR diffuse/albedo, roughness, Subsurface Scattering and Metalness. Rig/Animation using Mixamo and weight painted/animation refined by me.
METHOD: The method used was to get a decent render with minimal noise per frame so the samples are a bit different for each engine. The rendering speed is for the character only. The shadows and background are composited in post using Natron.
RESULTS: LuxCore was the most difficult to match color, as with any comparison I have done. Radeon ProRender's rendering speed is incredibly fast and clean but tends to be a bit more on the high-key lighting and the metalness edges in their materials is not quite fixed yet, leading to the somewhat brighter edges and more blown out highlights. Overall, ProRender was the fastest raytracer, Eeevee was the fastest overall, LuxCore has probably the best "Look" and Cycles is the easiest to use due to viewport responsiveness. I also would argue that for super high quiality sculpts, the random walk subsurface scattering in Cycles is amazing. Luxcore's subsurface scattering is very difficult to get it to do what you want and I am not overly fond with the final results.
