Just a few quick pointers to help others doing handbrake replacements in a VW Golf MK5, or an Audi A3 Sportback. Normally the old handbrake cables tend to seize inside the guide tubes so I always replace the guide tubes themselves. They're only about £10 from the dealership and it makes it way easier.
