A short video capturing the sound of an Eastman E-6-SS-TC slope shouldered acoustic guitar, with no electronics. After playing this guitar alongside a Gibson J-35, I was shocked by the lustrous tonal spectrum of the guitar, with a near perfect midrange, crystal clear highs, and just the right amount of bass response. The two guitars sound different but by just the right amount. Yes. Eastman borrowed stylistic traits from the J-35, but it ended there. It is clear that they were attempting to voice the guitar such that it had its own clear and distinct tone, one that I prefer to the Gibson. I'm not saying the tone is "better", only that it is unique and utterly pleasing and, between the two guitars, the Eastman would get my vote. But thousands of guitarists can't be wrong in falling in love with the J-35. Had I not already owed its big brother, the J-45, I may well have chosen the J-35.
