Aligarh is one of the most high stakes seats in Western UP- Driven by Caste & Religion. It’s known to be a BJP stronghold- as the party won from here 5 times in a row in the past & in 2014, BJP’s Satish Gautam won from here with a victory margin of over 2.5 lakh. This time his candidature was opposed from within BJP ranks. Aligarh comes under the smart cities mission. So will BJP’s development plank drive this election or will it be issues of polarisation that came out of Aligarh Muslim University?
