My partner at work advocated for using a mini excavator to do finish trail building work. In combination from the dexterity with a excavator and the right blade angle of a tilt bucket, this setup can create a bench cut trail with back slope. Excavator tracks are hydraulically retracted into only 28 inches wide. The operator can dig the a narrow trail with the tilt bucket effectively as narrow as the tracks at only 28 inches wide.
