My guitar solos were boring until I listened closely to Eric Clapton's solo on Cream's song, "Crossroads," then I learned how to do this on guitar: switch from major pentatonic to minor pentatonic at a specific harmonic change in the song, or the 12-bar blues form.
In this guitar lesson you'll learn how to make this easy but very effective move in your own solos and improvisation when the chords change from the I chord to the IV chord. This method works great for blues, rock, country and many other guitar genres.
We will look at both an easy way to do it, using standard pentatonic shapes, and a more advanced way, switching pentatonic shapes in the same area of the guitar fretboard.
