According to american concrete institute the minimum size of column should not be less than 9x9" and also according to the indian standard the column dimension should be atleast of 225 mm x225 mm. Due to this minimum dimension of the column the maximum distance between the two rcc columns are restricted to 4 meter. There are various factors affecting the size of the column.
1. Increase in the distance between two columns results in increase of the dimension of the column.
2. Height of the building.
3. Type of structural building.
