A bus collided with a truck on the highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa, leaving 15 dead and 40 injured. The bus was on its way from Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. The passengers were mostly labourers who had boarded the bus from Madhya Pradesh’s Katni and were going home for Diwali. Police said a case has been registered and investigation is on to find the cause of the accident that took place between 10.30 pm and 11 pm.
Rewa DM Manoj Pushp said: “Nineteen people were critically injured and are being treated… Those in the cabin died on the spot.” Adding to the DM, “The injured have been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Medical College in Rewa, and the bodies have been sent to Teonthar Civic Hospital.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced ₹2 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased and ₹50,000 for each injured. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced ₹2 lakh each for the families of the dead and ₹50,000 each for the critically injured.
