Today we will be taking a look at the Optronics LED clearance or side marker light. This is what it looks like installed. This would be a great choice for you if you just needed to replace your light, or even if you're looking to upgrade to an LED from a traditional style incandescent. As you can see, even with just three diodes in this bright room it still puts off plenty of light. An LED light is a better option in my opinion because it uses less power for a brighter light. You don't have to worry about replacing bulbs and it lasts a long time.
It features a sonically sealed waterproof housing and lens, which makes it fully submersible, so this light is ideal for trailers that may spend some time in water, like boat or jet ski trailers. The light measures 1-1/8" wide, 1-1/8" tall, and 1-1/16" deep. On the back of side of the light we have our power wire and we also have our mounting bolt. Now this bolt actually serves as the light's ground as well, which is a really nice feature compared to some of the others, which are a two wire design. Also along the edge here on the top and bottom there's an indentation, and that will allow us if we want to to run our power wire out of the light like that. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's show you how to get it installed. The first thing you want to do is determine where you're going to mount your light.
We have a bracket here, and this is what we're going to go with. The only thing you'll need is a center hole big enough for your ground post to fit through, and if your hole is already preexisting and a little too large you can use a washer so the nut doesn't pull through.I'll go ahead and take our rear off. You take your wire and feed it through, and using your hand on the outside to maintain pressure you could take a washer, the included lock washer, and the included nut and just get it finger tight for now. Then we can grab a tool and snug it up.Once it's mounted we can get our power wire for our trailer and we're going to connect the trailer power wire to the light's power wire. We're going to accomplish that with a heat shrink bar connector, which you can find these on etrailer.com.We went ahead and zip tied back this wire up out of the way not only for a better look, but to help prevent them from getting damaged.
The last thing we need to do is to put power to our light to make sure it works. As you can see, it does. That completes our look at the Optronics LED clearance or side marker light.
