KOTUMSAR CAVE JAGDALPUR, BASTAR
Kotumsar cave was initially called as Gopansar cave (Gopan means hidden) but now the name Kotumsar became more popular as the cave is located near a village named 'Kotumsar'. It is located in the outskirts of Jagdalpur in the Kanker Valley National Park, Bastar Dist Chhattisgarh. It's a major attraction for those who are interested in ecotourism. It is a limestone cave formed on the Kanger limestone belt, situated near the bank of River Kanger, a branch of Kolab River.
The tunnel of the cave is nearly 330 m long and a depth of 72 feet with several lateral and downward passages. The cave is subject to frequent flooding during monsoon, which begins from June to October. So the site is closed to tourists during this period, best time to visit is after October.
