I already have a 22 ton Huskee and a 35 ton Huskee hydraulic splitter.I figured id give it a try, AND IM IN LOVE. This splitter was very scary the first time I operated it. I actually like the two handed safety function and prefer it over the super split and Dr rapid fire models. some folks complain about the extra safety feature, I personally prefer it because I loose focus accessional. I don't want any body parts to get cut off, so this added safety is great. The cost of this unit is reasonable and it works great. I am amazed by how fast this splitter gets it done. I have been using hydraulic splitters for so long, this machine is almost unbelievable. I would not want to pay the asking price of $1,699 (10/25/12) for a new one, but if you want a fast splitter this is it. I recommend operating this type splitter solo. I can see something going wrong very fast with extra hands in the way. I have been working as a team on my hydraulic splitters, but this one is so fast there is no room for error. It will cut a hand off in the blink of an eye. some of the other videos are scary to watch where there are two guys working on one of these Kinetic splitters at the same time. I am also amazed by how well this machine handles knots and tough wood. Elm is one of the worst logs iv split and this splitter makes it look like butter. It even blows through oak knots with ease. Iv ran into a few logs with my 22 ton Huskee that would not split. Im sure I will find a few logs that will be to tough for this speed pro. But who cares about a few logs. It will split 99.9% of what you lay in the danger zone. If you want a big overpowered splitter that will split every log, buy a 35 ton huskee. It will use more fuel than those few logs will compensate for. and the big 35 ton is heavy and harder to move. (I'm selling my 35 ton Huskee, its a wast of space and not cost efficient) The 22 ton Huskee is the perfect size and I have only seen a few logs it would not split & I have ran tons of wood through it. This is just my Opinion and I realize thats pretty worthless.
P.S. I prefer Huskee over north star if you go hydraulic. The huskee is balanced better and more user friendly. the north star is tempting due to the honda motor and idle down function between logs, but it only idles down if the cylinder is ran all the way back in. and the briggs motors have held up great for me. I had a 30 ton North star and sold it quickly after not liking it.
