The Omicron variant appears to be no worse than other COVID-19 strains. That is the view of top scientists from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United States. The WHO said Omicron could be more transmissible, but it also said it is highly unlikely the variant will completely evade the protection provided by existing vaccines.
