Join me on an epic adventure as I hike to the top of Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the MIssissippi at 6,684 feet (2,037 meters) above sea level. Located in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, Mount Mitchell offers breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness and is a popular destination for hikers and trail runners.
My journey to the summit begins at the Black Mountain Campground, where I followed the blue blazes along the well-marked trail through the lush forests. As the trail gains elevation, the landscape becomes more rugged. Gaining a steady 600-700 over the 6 mile climb.
The day started out rainy but turned out sunny as I reached the summit. From the summit, we can see for miles in every direction, taking in the majestic beauty of the Appalachian Mountains.
