In some senses, this is an "old-school" Brook Lopez game. He doesn't make any three-pointers in this video, although he did attempt some (he went 0-3). All of his points were a result of him making mince meat out of the Zards' overmatched interior defenders. If you swapped out the Bucks jerseys for those horrendous, sleeved, pajama-looking grey jerseys that the Nets wore for a while, you could pretend that this video came straight out of 2015.
But the effect wouldn't be complete, because Lopez was a midrange money master in that era, and that facet of his game has been mostly discarded. When I look at the sharts (shot charts) of Nets-era Blopez, with the tightly clustered masses of green and red dots indicating made and missed shot attempts in the 14-to-20 foot range, and compare that with Bucks-era Blopez sharts (shot charts) where the midrange is a stark white field of emptiness, I weep. I literally weep. You might not think that I'm being serious right now, but I am. Weeping is my typical reaction to experiencing a distressing shart (shot chart).
Lopez is pretty clearly on the downswing of his career now. There's not a ton of time left for him to return to his old ways of middy jimbo domination, and I doubt he wants to re-reinvent himself anyway, but all I'm asking for is just one game. One game of the old Lopez, spamming middy jimmies while defenders clutch their heads in confusion at the unstoppable seven-foot jumpshooting beast that stands in their midst. Jrue Holiday would get fifteen assists easy. Oh look, I'm weeping again.
