Why aiming for Mars is so important to humanity?

However, it is virtually impossible to predict the future. What is clear is that just scaling up our current ways of thinking, tools, and technologies will not help overcome the daunting challenges and intractable problems that face humanity.

The Apollo missions taught us that travelling one again to the Moon and facing the Mars challenge have the potential to create a groundswell of young scientists as well as raising public interest in learning about science.
