8mm, Super 8 or 16mm REVERSAL FILM produces a ‘positive’ image. This means when you hold the processed film up to the light, you can see the finished image without needing to scan it digitally or print it on photographic paper in a darkroom. It also means that you can use a device (such as a slide projector or a movie projector in the case of movie film) to shine light through the film and project the image on a wall or a screen.
