A tragedy was narrowly avoided during Chhath Puja celebrations in Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh. A part of the canal culvert collapsed, plunging several people into the canal. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the accident.
Chhath Puja celebrations were organised on the canal in Saraiya village of Chakia tehsil area of Chandauli district. The locals were gathered around to watch the festivities, with several people standing on the culvert of the canal. Just as the devotees were offering the morning “arghya”, a part of culvert collapsed and several people fell into the water.
