SARANGKOT, POKHARA: We head up to Sarangkot from Pokhara, but instead of taking the cable cars up the mountain, we decide to hike and get the practice for our upcoming treks.

Sarangkot is famous in this region for its views of the Annapurna range and particularly the sunrise. Many people will come for a short visit from Pokhara, either by taxi or via the cable car. This hillside area is also very well known, perhaps even more so, for its abundance of paraglider's, which you can see easily from the city as they soar over the lake.

We did initially consider doing this, but just 1 or 2 days before we arrived in Pokhara, there was a paraglider who died in an accident. It transpired that this was an individual partaking in some kind of competition, so perhaps the manoeuvres were more extreme and not the typical ones from the tourist trips, but nonetheless we were spooked and ultimately opted against it.
