In an era of interconnected challenges and opportunities, collaborative efforts among partners and stakeholders are essential to drive positive change in oral health outcomes. In this ECHO seminar, Gina Sharps, MPH, RDH, CTTS, FADHA, oral health coordinator at Marshall University and the West Virginia Oral Health Coalition (WVOHC), shared successful projects from the WVOHC connecting oral health partners in a rural state. The WVOHC seeks to improve oral health disparities throughout the state through collaboration with community partners including policymakers and organizations such as Head Start and substance use recovery centers. The session highlighted the WVOHC’s multifaceted approach to fostering partnerships and implementing impactful projects across diverse domains, including the following projects:
- Promoting the Medicaid Adult Dental Benefit with Managed Care Organizations
- Advancing Community Water Fluoridation through Collaboration with WV Department of Environmental Engineering
- Empowering Substance Use Recovery through Partnership with Recovery Centers
- Advancing Oral Health in Early Education within the Dental Hygienist Liaison: A collaboration between the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors and the American Dental Hygienists’ Association
