Baset (buh-set) is a backward sweep in the Inodnesian grappling method known as Silat. This is one of the first four sweeps we explore in the basics. It's all about range, spacing, and creating leverage while standing. We get this material straight from the legend, Dan Inosanto who has studied and pioneered several forms of Silat. This type of grappling might look like there's too much space, but that's actually the goal. With the space available the Silat player leaves room for hitting or the use of weaponry.
