US President-elect Donald Trump reportedly met with TikTok's CEO as an impending ban looms over the social media giant. Reports in the US media claimed that Trump met TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew at his Mar-a-Lago resort on December 16. Earlier in the day, Trump expressed having "a warm spot" for TikTok. Trump's comments came in the wake of a federal law that would ban TikTok in the US starting January 19, 2025, if it doesn't divest from its Chinese parent ByteDance. Trump is scheduled to be sworn in as president on January 20, 2025, a day after the law is set to take effect.
