I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. Things have been busy, so this video has taken a lot longer to get finished than I had hoped. About 10 years ago, I made a skeleton foam and mylar Clipped Wing Cub to put UMX electronics in. It was one of my first real micro scratch builds, and to this day, it's one of my favorite planes. I love slow flyers and doing aerobatics with stuff that doesn't look like it should be very aerobatic. A few months back the thought popped into my head to make one BIGGER and SLOWER. The original was built using 3mm Depron, so to avoid having to do any re-work of the CAD, I just doubled the size of the drawings and used FT maker foam with the paper removed. The covering is 0.3mil drop cloth from the hardware store attached with 3M 77 spray adhesive. I used 1.7g hobbyking servos, a 2203 power pack from Twisted Hobbys, a Spektrum AR620 with the case removed, and a 2s 300mAh battery. The model is just a bit over 1 meter in span and weighs just under 100 grams! It is lighter than a UMX Timber, and nearly twice the size. Flying it is magical, similar to an indoor F3P plane, but with big silly wheels to do touch-and-go's. I used the wheels off of a FunnyCub, and made custom gear with rubber band suspension. Initially I had planned on painting it, but the ghostly presence seems to suit its flying style :)
Here is a post from the build thread for the original smaller version from 10 years back : [ Ссылка ]
This build is a 2x scale version of the original plans. There are more detailed pictures in the rest of that thread.
As with all my builds, this is strictly for fun. I do not intend to sell any sort of kit based on this project, although I will be glad to answer questions about the build, and help anyone who is interested create their own. Do not upload my content as your own, and please provide proper attribution if you are sharing it. RC models are not toys. Build and operate at your own risk and in accordance with your local regulations. Fly smart, fly safe.
