For over thirty years, Bengal Foundation has engaged with the rich tradition of Bengali music, through the continual nurture of songs that are melodious, inspiring and pleasurable. This has yielded a treasure trove of over two thousand five hundred song recordings. With a view to popularise the Bengali genre, a selection from the Foundation’s music catalogue was visualised and recorded on video, under the title ‘Surer Kathon’, in 2008.

‘Chirobondhu Chiranirbhar...’, a composition by Rabindranath Tagore, was sung by the Bangladeshi artist Mita Huq (1962-2021) and recorded on video in 2008.
