26 naxals were killed in Chhattisgarh border yesterday near Gadchiroli district. Naxal leader Milind Teltumbde has also been killed by the Police. The encounter began in Kotgul forest early yesterday was carried out by C-60 commandos of the Police and lasted till late yesterday. 4 Armed personnel were injured in the encounters and have been hospitalized.
Many weapons and other materials were recovered from the spot. A massive operation was launched to find bodies of all killed. These group of Maoists were camping these regions. Heavy firing took place as the commandos started the hunt. Maoist leader Milind and his brother Anand were heading the operations in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh since the time Gadchiroli became a separate district.. A team of 60 commandos trained in Guerrilla and combat operations carried out the hunting down.
