What drew me to science in general and teaching and research in science was a fascination for the complexities and also the simplicities of nature. My love of teaching stems from my fascination with research and fascination with Science. I love to talk about the things that I work on and how they apply to health, to nature in general and biology. The different kinds of students that I see in my courses also are different to the students I see in my laboratory. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Those with interests in sports and athletics, those with interests in medicine, those with interests in becoming physiotherapists or other allied health professions and those interested purely in research and science. They all share in common an interest in physiology and in trying to learn more about what makes human beings work the way we do. Bringing young, fresh, new perspectives into the laboratory environment always generates new questions and sometimes those questions seem naieve but when you look deeper into the background of those questions and where they are coming from, every now and then there are some really great insights that get brought into the mix.
