Munak Canal Breach: Water Enters Homes, Floods Streets In Delhi's Bawana, Water Supply At Risk
Critical source of water to Delhi, Munak canal breaches, teams rushed to repair. In the early hours of June 11, the sub-branch of the Munak Canal, which provides Delhi with around 36.7% of water (719 cusecs), was breached. Due to the breach, heavy waterlogging occurred in JJ Colony, submerging the area. The canal serves as a critical source of water for treatment plants at Delhi’s Haiderpur, Bawana, Nangloi, and Dwarka. The reason behind the breach is still not clear and repair work has started. Notably, last year too a section of the Munak Canal broke, disrupting water supply to parts of Delhi for two days
