To begin using a coupler, unscrew the ring at the coupler's base. Open your pastry bag, and drop the coupler inside, pushing the narrow end of the coupler into the narrowest part of the bag. Mark with your finger where the screw thread lines up with the bag, and push the coupler out. Cut the bag at the marked line, and push the coupler through this hole until the hole lines up with the coupler's threaded lines. Place the pastry tip over the coupler, and secure the tip by screwing the ring back onto the coupler. To remove the pastry tip or switch tips, simply unscrew the coupler and take the tip off.
