100 days have passed since the farmers began protesting against the Centre's three farm laws. The protesting farmers decided to block highways today to mark 100 days of agitation. The protest began way back in November, when thousands of farmers marched towards Delhi to demand a complete repeal of the 3 farm laws. A pan India road blockade was done then and they gave the call for ‘Delhi Chalo’ movement. Farmers were faced with water cannons and tear gas. Police then allowed them to enter Delhi at Nirankari ground. Centre held first round of talks with farmers' union. Farmers gave a call for Bharat Bandh after which Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) moved to Supreme Court against the farm laws. Farmers also held a one-day hunger strike at all protest sites. Supreme Court rapped the Centre for its handling of the farmers’ protest and stayed the implementation of the three farm laws. On 26th January; Republic day, thousands of protestors clashed with the police during the tractor parade. Some protesters reached at the Red Fort and hoisted the Nishan Sahib flag, at this point most farmers' unions distanced themselves from the occupation of Red Fort, and the blame rested completely on Punjabi musician Deep Sidhu, and one Lakha Sidhana. Rihanna, Greta Thunberg, Meena Harris and Mia Khalifa also tweeted on the Farmers' Protest. The Ministry of External Affairs condemned these international statements, and matters became further complicated when Thunberg circulated a social media toolkit. Delhi Police then arrested climate activist Disha Ravi in the toolkit case, who was later released. The farmers' movement continues on.
