Thoughts on finity abound in the texts of Bach’s cantatas. Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis (BWV 21) too refers to the struggle with a life that is fleeting. What this instrumental sinfonia at the start of the cantata would express beyond a musical emotion that cannot be captured in philosophical terms is uncertain — and was probably so to Bach himself. What remains true, however, is that the music breathes a spirituality that is resolute in its pursuit of the sublime.
Amsterdam Sinfonietta and violinists Candida Thompson and Simone Lamsma will release a new album called Pärt über Bach on April 26, 2024. Sinfonia from Bach is the first single of this album and is available on all streaming platforms. Pre save the album here: [ Ссылка ]
