On July 7, 1595, Sultan Mehmed III finally dismissed Sardar Farhad Pasha as prime minister due to his failure in Wallachia and replaced him with Sinan Pasha as prime minister in 1596. However, under pressure from the court and his mother, Sultan Mehmed II made Ibrahim Pasha prime minister shortly after.
The major event of his reign was the Austro-Ottoman War in Hungary. Due to the Ottoman defeat in the war, Sultan Mehmed II had to take command of the army himself. However, the Ottomans finally decided to face the enemy and defeated the Hungarian forces. and captured Nagykanizsa.
