Idalia has strengthened into a category one hurricane early Tuesday morning as it reached the southern Gulf of Mexico. The storm is expected to continue it climb to a major hurricane before landfall Wednesday morning. The landfall center still looks to be around the Big Bend of FL. Of course impacts will be widespread across much of the peninsula of Florida. The storm is expected to weaken as it continues inland toward eastern GA and possibly SC by early Thursday.

The forecast path is toward Florida's Big Bend north of Tampa by early Wednesday.
