Following a fifty-year tradition, crowds in Rome celebrated the
coming of the new year on Monday (1/1) by watching two men dive
into the murky waters of the Tiber river.
Three men prepared for the jump by pouring champagne into the
river but one pulled out after police placed a ban on diving
because of extremely high pollution levels.
