The outcome of the US presidential election still hangs in the balance. Democratic nominee Joe Biden has an edge over President Donald Trump, with 253 electoral votes to his Republic rival's 214. Some US news outlets have Mr Biden as far as 264, six shy of the 270 votes he needs to be the next president. With several battlegrounds still too close to call, former US bureau chief Jeremy Au Yong elaborates on both candidates' diminishing leads in these states and looks ahead to the next projections.
