Thanks to influencers and celebrities, many people look to project a rich/wealthy aesthetic on social media. In this video I discuss, the obsession with “looking rich,” influencers who fake their wealth and how this leads to insecurity and anxiety from the working class who cannot live up to this unrealistic standard of living. From the TikTok "old money aesthetic" trend to social media flex culture as a whole, the obsession with looking rich is ruining our individuality. This obsession leads to an overconsumption of products due to influencers constantly showing off "must-have" products on TikTok.
