Amazon product research is one of the most popular topics among FBA tutorials on YouTube. Many newcomers struggle with this stage and often make costly mistakes when choosing a product.
If you are not sure what to sell on Amazon as a new seller, here are some types of products I recommend avoiding:
• Products with variations – These can increase your financial risk because you’ll need to order multiple units of each variation without knowing how well each will sell. Managing inventory becomes more complicated as a result.
• Low-value products – Opt for items priced at £20 or more to ensure sufficient profit margins for investing in PPC (Pay Per Click) sponsored ads.
• High-demand products – Avoid items that require sales of over 300 units per month. High demand increases inventory requirements and makes it harder to compete during the launch phase.
• Large or heavy products – Bulky or heavy items lead to higher shipping and fulfilment fees, which can eat into your profits. Stick to products under 1.9 kg, and always check their dimensional weight.
• Seasonal products – Focus on products that sell consistently year-round, even if they experience seasonal spikes. Avoid items like picnic blankets or BBQ tools that have limited seasonal appeal.
• Dangerous goods and hazardous materials – Selling these requires special approval and shipping can be challenging.
