Enjoy a look around the excellent Railex Buxton model railway exhibition. We see a great variety of layouts in numerous scales covering Scotland to Cornwall in the UK and then over to Europe, Canada and North America.
The 2mm fine scale layout, Copenhagen Fields, has so much to see without the trains running. Add in numerous trains operating at once you have a very entertaining layout.
Melton Mowbray (North) is a very detailed model of an interesting station which closed in the 1960s. A fine collection of trains can be seen running with a few surprises too.
Alswear is a freelance narrow gauge 009 layout. The interesting track plan offers a variety of operating potential.
Appledore really captures the feel of the south coast in the 1960s.
Blue is the Colour is a wonderful n scale layout representing the West Coast Main Line in the 1980s. A lovely variety of trains can be seen running around the mainline whilst the branch line and goods yard provide further variety.
Burford is a branch line terminus which really captures the feel of a country branch line. The layout is modelled in HO scale which is unusual for a British themed layout.
Caern Brae is set in the heart of Cornwall with an abundance of mines. A constant stream of modern image trains can be seen on this oo scale layout.
Emwell is classic Great Eastern Railway country terminus. Modelled in S scale this features a lot of scratch built and kit built locos, rolling stock and buildings.
Incyhra Paper Mill is a fantastic industrial themed layout with an interesting mix of industrial locos shunting different elements of paper mill. The fine variety of buildings really bring the layout to life.
Indian Springs is an interesting American HO scale layout set in Arizona. The lovely mixture of buildings captures small town USA.
Wintermans Road is a layout and collection of trains made by Triang. A good mix of these vintage trains can be seen running on the layout.
Melrose End represents LNER and LMS trains serving a busy branch line in the Inter war period.
Nicola Landing is a work in progress layout set in British Columbia Canada. Featuring both 2 foot and 3 foot gauge track as well as some dual gauge track work there is plenty of variety on offer with this layout. It will be interesting to see the scenery develop over the forthcoming months.
Port William is set in North Cornwall and features a fine display of structures and scenery.
Vale View represents a modest preserved line in O scale.
Zell town centre in Germany has a very frequent tram service and an interchange with a trolley bus system.
In addition to the layouts there was a strong collection of trade support with plenty of models to buy in many scales as well as tools, scenics, accessories etc. Preservation societies were well represented and there was extensive book sales as well.
