Welcome to another video and welcome to Mulhouse in France.
In this video I will take you to one of the greatest car museums in the world.
Located in Mulhouse, France, the Schlumpf Collection is one of the most beautiful classic cars collections in the world. The museum, housed in a former woollen mill, was bought by Fritz and Hans Schlumpf in 1957 and transformed into a secret showcase full of automotive icons. Although abounding with almost 600 classic vehicles, the root of their obsession was clear: the Bugatti marque. Over two decades, the brothers amassed a collection of 151 Bugatti cars. Whether it was the legendary 1926 Type 41 Royale "Coupé Napoléon" or the Paris Motorshow 1936 Type 57S Paris Motorshow – The Schlumpf brothers never gave up on their daring aim to own every Bugatti ever built. They secretly employed 20 people to restore many of the vehicles over the years, together with refurbishing the factory warehouse to create the ‘Schlumpf Museum’. In 17 years, they spent about 12 million francs on buying and exhibiting the collection. And thus in 1977 their passion eventually bankrupt them and they had to see their beloved collection sold to "National Automobile Museum Association" to pay debts for much lower than the actual collection's value. The cars today are rarities of inestimable value and are the subject to a preservation order. With the cars beautifully displayed and a walk through the race history, the museum is a place every car fan should have visited once in his lifetime.
