Ontario’s Solicitor General Michael Kerzner, along with local MPP Steve Clark and Kemptville mayor Nancy Peckford confirmed a new regional jail is being built in Kemptville Thursday.
The deal with the province was struck after the province agreed to kick in $21.8 million to expand and renovate the Water Pollution Control Plant - an expansion needed to build the 235-bed Eastern Ontario Correctional Complex.
