GPS City will show you how to RESET your Garmin 78 series GPS back to factory default settings. Back up all wanted GPS data using Basecamp as a precaution before starting.
Hold the Page and Enter buttons down then power the unit on. Continue to hold Page and Enter until you see a prompt asking, "Do you really want to erase all user data?", you can release your fingers and select yes.
Problems that may be solved by resetting the GPS;
-My GPS will not track satellites!
-Forgot what settings were changed and need to restart.
-My compass will not work or calibrate.
-My barometric altimeter will not work or calibrate.
-GPS wont connect to my heart rate monitor.
-GPS will not connect to my chirp.
...
Also it is best to perform a firmware update using Garmin WebUpdater. This too sometimes fixes problems you see with your GPS.
