TLDR: this expansion card, generally delivers the same performance as that of a sata port of the motherboard using crystaldiskmark and some file transfers.

Note that the storage devices i connected to this are all HDDs.

If you're intending to install multiple SSDs, choosing the x4 pcie 3.0 may be a better idea.
