The Wall Street Journal recently posted an article titled "Bankrupt in Just Two Weeks", telling the story of a man who lost nearly everything by investing in an instrument called leveraged exchange-traded notes, or ETNs (not to be confused with the popular, exchange-traded funds, or ETFs). Scott walks what exactly happened that brought this man (and many others) to bankruptcy, and why ETNs should be approached very cautiously.
