Today I wanted to show you all a quick way to easily set up a grab/hold/throw system in Game Builder Garage. It occupies 2 teleport channels for any number of held objects and is very easy to get started with. Hand nodon are great but not the best for immersively taking hold of objects and being very precise with them in 3D space (and sometimes you just don’t want to whip out the joy-con).
I tried to somewhat emulate the style of holding objects that’s done in the portal series of games. It was a viewer comment that inspired me to work on this video in the first place. I tried a few other methods but nothing worked either at all or quite as well as this, so the clipping bug is something I just have to deal with.
