27% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions came from the transportation sector in 2019, making transport the most polluting sector in the country, meaning the road to net zero through public transport decarbonisation is at the top of the agenda.
Decarbonising public transport is a challenge for all local authority leaders to face and with no one strategy which can rely on changing on a singular aspect of transportation, leaders must look to multiple sustainable fleet solutions across the mobility mix.
In this panel discussion, hear from leaders on how public sector organisations can move to sustainable public transport from EV to carbon efficient buses and gain insight into how the public sector can overcome the challenges of implementing charging infrastructure.
Guest Panellists:
Claire Fleming, Travel Plan Officer, Swindon Borough Council
Shamala Evans-Gadgil, Programme Manager Transport, Infrastructure & Innovation, Coventry City Council
James Peet, Associate Consultant Sustainability & Climate Change, WSP
Cllr Adam Clarke, Deputy City Mayor, Leicester City Council
Jenny Figueirdo, EV Charging Project Manager, Oxfordshire County Council
