I've printed this model with my old 3D printer to paint and detail it to look like the baby Groot in the movie, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It is my DIY presentation that outlines my process to get to a finished likeness of that particular movie character.
At time of completion, I found that painting and detailing exactly to the character represented in the film would be a pinch more difficult and take more time. But, I didn't think it was impossible. Also, what is convincing in film wasn't translating when it came to viewing the real model in plain sight. This is my personal observation. I made adjustments that made this model more of an approximation. I thought this was somewhat analogous as to how producers like James Cameron, or directors of Star Wars (no longer George Lucas) addressed a character's presence in a film, appearing as CG or puppetry / animatronics. As it is, I'm happy with it and will entertain possibly printing the grown, original Groot.

The 3D model of baby Groot is designed by Byambaa who has a presence on Thingiverse.com and MyMiniFactory.com. It is a free model anyone can print out for their own use. It is a fantastic piece whether it is painted or not.
The 3D printed used in this video is the BQ Witbox. BQ is a company out of Spain. I did modify the printer after this print was made to improve its performance, notably, adding a DDG extruder, a new part cooling duct that I designed, adding PEI to the glass bed, and enhancements to the z-motion system. Due to limitations of this machine, I moved on to another 3D printer.
