Situated within walking distance of Carmarthen town, The Grange offers six en-suite bedrooms, a lounge, activity room, sensory room and enclosed garden.
Led by Jill Cowdry, an award-winning manager (Learning Disability Service Manager of the Year, National Care Awards, 2018) and Positive Behavioural Management (PBM) trainer, the home has a dedicated support team all trained in Positive Behavioural Support and highly experienced in supporting individuals with a range of complex needs.
Using Active Support, the team support individuals to develop skills that enable them to enjoy greater independence, from making their breakfast and organising their bedrooms to managing their finances and using public transport.
The focus at the Grange is on placing individuals at the heart of everything they do. The support team use a range of Total Communication techniques, including Makaton and Pictorial aids to ensure individuals are given choice and control over all aspects of their lives, from choosing meals and clothes to planning daily activities and decorating their rooms. Individuals are also actively involved in how the service is run, as well as the various events held throughout the year.
At the Grange, individuals take part in a range of activities of their choice both within the home and in the community. The team pride themselves on going the extra mile to make those choices a reality, working proactively with external providers to overcome challenges and enable individuals to engage in social and leisure activities safely.
