Residents in Nepal’s capital city of Kathmandu faced the daunting task of cleaning up after two days of heavy rain triggered deadly landslides and flooding across the country.
Some parts of the capital recorded up to 32.2 milimetres of rain, pushing the level of the Bagmati River past the danger mark.
The torrential rains resulted in the deaths of 129 people, with 62 people missing as of Sunday. Police said that they had recovered 31 bodies.
There were signs of respite on Sunday morning, with the rains easing in many places, according to a weather forecaster in the nation’s capital.
