Two men stole a Boeing 727 at an airport in 2003 and flew away, disappearing forever - No crash and no plane has ever been found. Read the story :
It is believed that on May 25, 2003, shortly before sunset (probably 5:00 p.m. local time), two men boarded the plane. One of them was American pilot and flight engineer Ben C. Padilla. The other, John M. Mutantu, was a mechanic employed by the Republic of the Congo. Neither was certified to fly a Boeing 727, and they needed an additional crew member to fly the plane. According to U.S. authorities, Padilla was at the controls. An airport employee reported seeing only one person on the plane at a time; other airport officials said two men had boarded the plane before the crash. The plane began taxiing without communicating with the control tower. It maneuvered erratically and taxied onto a runway without authorization. Tower officials tried to contact them, but no one responded. Without lights, the plane took off heading southwest over the Atlantic Ocean before disappearing. Before the crash, the plane had been filled with 53,000 litres (14,000 US gal) of fuel, giving it a range of about 2,400 kilometres (1,500 miles/1,300 nmi). Neither the plane nor the two men have been seen since, and no debris from the plane has been found on the ground or in the sea.
